Four theme parks, dozens of headline rides, and a seasonal calendar that runs all year. Here's what to ride in each park, the 2026 events worth planning around, and today's live hours.
The four parks
Walt Disney World isn't a park — it's four of them, each a full day, spread across 40 square miles. Magic Kingdom is the castle-and-classics park; EPCOT pairs future-tech rides with a round-the-world eating loop; Hollywood Studios is the thrill-and-Star-Wars park; and Animal Kingdom is the beautiful one, half safari and half ride park. Two water parks round it out.
You cannot do it justice in a couple of days, and the difference between a great Disney trip and an exhausting one is almost entirely in the planning — which park on which day, when to arrive, what to pre-book, and where you sleep. That's the part worth handing off.
Things to do
The signature attractions in each park — the ones worth building a day around. Ride names and today's status are pulled from live theme-park data.
The castle park and the busiest of the four — classic dark rides, mountains and fireworks. Best early in the morning or during a nighttime show.
Future-tech rides up front, then the World Showcase — 11 countries around a lagoon that becomes the best eating-and-drinking loop on property during its festivals.
The thrill-and-Star-Wars park. Small footprint, big headliners — arrive at rope drop, it fills fast.
The most beautiful of the four, and a genuine half-day-plus of animals as well as rides. Pandora is a must after dark.
What's on in 2026
Disney's calendar changes the whole feel of a trip. Some are included with admission; the after-hours parties are a separate ticket and sell out.
The World Showcase fills with global tasting kiosks and concerts. Included with EPCOT admission — the single best reason to pick these dates.
A separately-ticketed after-hours party at Magic Kingdom: trick-or-treating, a special parade and fireworks, and lighter crowds. Sells out on peak nights.
The holiday version at Magic Kingdom, 7pm–midnight, separate ticket. Snow on Main Street, a Christmas parade and a dedicated fireworks show.
Holiday food kiosks around World Showcase plus the Candlelight Processional — included with regular EPCOT admission. Festival of the Arts returns in January.

Planning
For Disney specifically, September after Labor Day is the standout: low crowds, cheaper hotels, and the EPCOT Food & Wine Festival already running. Mid-January is the other quiet, cooler window. The holiday season (mid-November through New Year) is magical but crowded and expensive — beautiful if you plan it, brutal if you don't.
Give the resort four days minimum. A Park Hopper add-on lets you start at one park and finish the day at another — useful for EPCOT evenings during a festival.

Good to know
Walt Disney World has four theme parks — Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, Disney's Hollywood Studios and Disney's Animal Kingdom — plus two water parks (Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach). It is not the same as Disneyland, which is in California.
Four days lets you do one park per day without rushing. Five to six is more comfortable if you want repeat rides, pool time or the water parks. With fewer days, a Park Hopper ticket helps you combine parks.
The headliners most people target are Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance and Slinky Dog Dash at Hollywood Studios, Avatar Flight of Passage at Animal Kingdom, Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind and Remy's Ratatouille Adventure at EPCOT, and Seven Dwarfs Mine Train and Space Mountain at Magic Kingdom.
September after Labor Day and mid-January are the lowest-crowd, best-value windows. The EPCOT Food & Wine Festival (Aug 27–Nov 21) overlaps the quiet September dates, which makes early fall a sweet spot. Avoid spring break, July 4th week, Thanksgiving and late December.
Disney uses a paid Lightning Lane system for skipping standby lines on popular rides, and it's worth understanding before you go. Planning which rides to pay for, and in what order, is part of what an advisor sets up so your days actually flow.
