Universal Orlando: the complete 2026 guide

Four parks now — including Epic Universe, the biggest new theme park in a generation. Here's every park's headline rides, Halloween Horror Nights 2026, live hours, and how many days you really need.

The resort just got bigger

Why Universal is a three-day trip now

For years Universal was the two-day counterpart to Disney. That changed in May 2025 when Epic Universe opened — five fully-themed worlds that instantly became the most in-demand park in Orlando. Add Islands of Adventure (the coaster park and half of the Wizarding World) and Universal Studios Florida (movie rides and Diagon Alley), plus the Volcano Bay water park, and Universal now fills three full days comfortably.

The Harry Potter experience spans two parks, connected by the Hogwarts Express — which means a Park-to-Park ticket if you want the whole thing. Getting the ticket type, the day order and (with Epic Universe this busy) the arrival times right is the difference between walking on and waiting two hours.

Things to do

The four parks and their headline rides

Epic Universe first — it's the reason to come — then the two originals and the water park. Ride names and live status come from real-time theme-park data.

What's on in 2026

Halloween Horror Nights & seasonal events

Universal's after-dark events are a destination in themselves. Halloween Horror Nights in particular is a separate ticket and sells out — plan it early.

Aug 28 – Nov 1, 2026 (select nights)

Halloween Horror Nights 35

The biggest Halloween event in the industry — ten haunted houses, scare zones and shows after dark. 2026's theme is the Infernal Carnival of Nightmares, with houses including Stranger Things 5, Hellraiser and Evil Dead Burn. Separate ticket; buy ahead.

Year-round, 2026

Epic Universe — its first full seasons

2026 is the first full year of Epic Universe operating through every season. Expect it to draw the longest waits in Orlando — go early in the day and, ideally, midweek.

Mid-November – early January 2026

Holidays at Universal

The Macy's-style holiday parade, Grinchmas in Seuss Landing and Christmas in the Wizarding World. Included with regular admission.

Planning

When to go & how many days

Universal's crowds track Orlando's overall calendar — September and mid-January are quietest, spring break and the winter holidays busiest. But there's a twist in 2026: Epic Universe draws the longest waits in the city regardless of season, so if it's on your list, plan a midweek day and be at the gate for opening.

If Halloween is your thing, Horror Nights (Aug 28–Nov 1) turns the fall calendar into its own reason to visit — just know it's a separate after-hours ticket on top of daytime park admission.

Days needed

Three days for all four parks now that Epic Universe has opened; a day each for the three theme parks.

Park-to-Park

Required to ride the Hogwarts Express between the two Harry Potter parks — essential for the full experience.

Epic Universe strategy

Longest waits in Orlando. Go early, go midweek, and consider it your first full day while you're fresh.

Express Pass

Universal's line-skip add-on. Value depends on the season and park — worth pricing before you commit.

Let me plan your Universal trip

Epic Universe changed the math on a Universal trip, and the ticket types get confusing fast. Tell me who's going and when — I'll sort Park-to-Park vs. base tickets, the right hotel for early entry, and the day order so Epic Universe doesn't eat your whole trip in a queue. No extra cost to book through me.

Frequently asked questions

What parks are at Universal Orlando?

Universal Orlando has four parks: Epic Universe (opened 2025), Islands of Adventure, Universal Studios Florida, and the Volcano Bay water park — plus the CityWalk dining and entertainment district.

Is Epic Universe worth it? What's in it?

Epic Universe is Universal's newest and largest park, with five worlds: Celestial Park (Stardust Racers coaster), Super Nintendo World (Mario Kart), the Wizarding World – Ministry of Magic (Battle at the Ministry), How to Train Your Dragon – Isle of Berk, and Dark Universe (Monsters Unchained). It's the standout reason to visit Orlando in 2026 and typically draws the longest waits, so go early.

How many days do you need for Universal Orlando?

Two days covered Universal before; now that Epic Universe has opened, plan three days to see all four parks without rushing. A day each for Epic Universe, Islands of Adventure and Universal Studios Florida works well, with Volcano Bay as an optional add.

What is Park-to-Park and do I need it?

Park-to-Park lets you visit more than one Universal park in the same day, and it's required to ride the Hogwarts Express train that connects Diagon Alley (Universal Studios Florida) with Hogsmeade (Islands of Adventure). If you want the full Harry Potter experience, you need it.

When are Halloween Horror Nights 2026?

Halloween Horror Nights 35 runs on select nights from August 28 to November 1, 2026 — the earliest start in the event's history. It's a separately-ticketed after-hours event with ten haunted houses; tickets and express passes sell out on peak nights.
